Repair PDX will be holding its first toy hospital to help Portlanders fix their toys instead of throwing them out this holiday season. Repair cafés (such as this toy hospital) are free and festive events, which bring together volunteers who like to fix things with people who need things fixed.
EVENT DETAILS:
Hollywood Senior Center (1820 NE 40th Ave.)
Saturday, December 13th
12:00 PM to 3:00 PM
The upcoming repair café will feature a special “toy hospital” to help encourage kids (and adults) to get more use out of their toys this holiday season, instead of throwing them out.
Our special, holiday-themed "toy hospital" will have great visuals, such as:
“Why throw out a torn teddy bear, when a little bit of suturing can keep a much loved toy in the family for future generations,” said volunteer Noah Heller.
Repair PDX regularly hosts repair cafes, free and festive events, which bring together volunteers who like to fix things with people who need things fixed.

Ford Food & Drink (2505 SE 11th Ave)
Thursday, June 20th
6:00 PM to 9:00 PM
By promoting repairs, we want to help reduce the mountains of waste involved in the discarding of broken items, as well as the resources used to create replacement goods unnecessarily.
Repair cafés are also meant to put neighbors in touch with each other in a new way. They strengthen our community by helping people discover that a lot of know-how and practical skills can be found close to home.
Fixing goods can help people be green in another way, “Replacing a broken vacuum or busted food processor can really blow a hole in a working family’s tight budget. This is a direct and impactful way to help a neighbor in need,” said volunteer Noah Heller.
